One of the things I am continuously fascinated with and perhaps the predominant driving force behind my continued involvement in this genre is the pool of young, talented and up-and-coming producers.
There are literally thousands of these young guys who have started making a name for themselves in the last couple of years, many without the backing of any distinguished record labels or promotional channels. We live in an age of Youtube, Soundcloud, Myspace and Facebook, where these new producers are able to handle all promotional responsibilities, connect with those who share similar interests and share their music.
If you were to ask me to put together a list of my favorite up-and-coming producers, I would struggle. One thing is for sure though, Nathan Merrill aka Eliminate is right up there.
Chances are you may not have heard of this 19 year old out of Pullman, Washington. He has only been producing music for 2 years. A quick browse through his Soundcloud account and you will only see tracks dating back a year or so. Take a listen to these tunes and one thing that becomes immediately clear, is that each release gets bigger and better.
On October 24th, 2012 Eliminate released his second EP – Get Rowdy – for free download. I had been anticipating this release for a while, as I had heard a couple of short preview clips which sounded unbelievable.
I immediately downloaded the 7-track EP and for the rest of the day that was all I was listening to. The pure adrenaline that is generated through listening to these tracks is unfathomable. I challenge you to take a listen and not start banging you head.
